I think I've figured out what MUFON's two big announcements are, and boy are they big.

The first big announcement seems to be that MUFON now has two "young people" among its members. I'm not sure who the other one is, but we're sure to cross paths at some point or another. The second announcement is that 60 volumes of files from some old-timey UFO researcher named Leonard Stringfield have been donated to MUFON, and will someday be made available to MUFON members like me.

All I know about this Stringfield fellow is that he wrote a UFO book that I happened upon at a garage sale shortly after I started High Strangeness (and still haven't read), but I was curious to know more and found an article about his papers. It turns out there's some pretty hot stuff in The Stringfield Files, according to Pennsylvania State MUFON Director John Ventre, who is quoted extensively in the article.

"In those 60 volumes we have government interference, the FBI and CIA stopping the ufologists at any cost," Ventre is quoted as saying. "He talks about UFO investigators being beaten or receiving death threats."

Holy shit. Beatings? "Death threats? "Did I just hear a knocking at my front door?

Let me make this clear: Nobody ever told me that I'd be subject to beatings and death threats from the CIA and FBI when I became a Certified UFO Field Investigator, and I'm kind of pissed that I'm only now finding out about this. Then again, I haven't really noticed anyone trying to stop me at all costs, and I think I would notice that, so maybe this guy Stringfield was just paranoid.

Ventre goes on to describe more of the red hot bombshells revealed in The Stringfield Files: He names Donald Rumbsfeld (sic) and President Ford as being briefed on UFOs by J. Allen Hynek. He names heads of state that knew."

Okay, that's kind of cool, because I can use that in the Hynek book. But I will spell 'Rumsfeld' correctly in my version of the story.

But is that the best this Ventre guy can come up with? Where's the good stuff?

Description: Roughly 11:30 pm, My girlfriend and I were driving home on the highway, I noticed a bright light in the sky, An orange orb that was stationary. It was too bright to be a star but could not be a plane, as it didn't move. I noticed two other vehicles parked along the highway gazing at the object as well. We continued on, and shortly thereafter The object descended downward towards the ground and dissapeard in the treeline. I would have pursued, but my girlfriend was frightened and wouldn't have it, I estimate it's position of landing to be nearby Birds Hill Park. (assuming it did in fact land)

I've absolutely no doubt this was a UFO in our atmosphere that quite likely touched down.

Color/Shape: Bright Orange, White-ish at the brightest area. Spherical, but it was quite flourescent, like a star, so I cannot inform of any actual shape.

Height & Speed: Probably no more then three or four KM from the ground, It descended (in my very rough estimation) from that height to the ground in no more then four or five seconds.

TV/Radio/Press: I've yet to hear any other related information.

Upon my making this statement, you had e-mailed me and requested further information on the sighting, but beleiving that I had provided all the information I could, I neglected to return your e-mail. For this I apologise.

It should be stated firstly that this report was only the first of - at least six- ( I seem to have lost count ) sightings I have witnessed since.

The orbs seem to appear in the same general area, quite plain to see with the naked eye, yet I've heard no other reports or media attention.

I must make a few points clear - That my original estimate of the location of the UFO was dramatically incorrect, my judgement now guages the object to be "much" further west then the Birds Hill area. On one occassion I spotted the object from Beausejour and continued westbound to see just how far it actually was. I made it to the western edge of Selkirk MB. (roughly 40 some Kilometers) before the object faded out of view, it was no closer then it seemed initially. I now estimate the appearance to be in the vicinity of Brandon MB. if not further. It should be noted that there is a military installation near there, known as CFB Shilo. I personally doubt this has any connection, but it may be a possibility.

I have at times seen up to three objects present during one sighting. They move horizontally back and forth sometimes at low levels of speed, stopping at times before continuing their path. It would seem almost (and I hate to speculate anything) that they were seeking something. All that I concider may be of any small interest near Winnipeg may perhaps be a micro-biology lab, that is host to some of the worlds most potent viruses. Again, I hate to speculate anything.

There are now several witnesses, including close friends, who have seen the objects with me, and noted their own personal sightings to me on seperate occassions. unfortunately, none have made reports, it would seem they cannot be bothered.

Most notably I must add that these objects seem quite un-concerned with the sheer obviousness of their presence. My father did not beleive my stories of the sightings, but on one occassion himself and I were on route to the city at roughly 8:15 AM, the sun had risen and it was a clear morning. There were no stars, and I noticed a bright light in the general location that I normally spot the objects (this was the second time I observed them in the morning light). I noted it to him, assured that it was indeed one of the strange orbs, and had him watch it for no more then a minute before it faded away. He was uncertain if it vanished, or perhaps raced off at an alarming speed in the opposite direction. Needless to say he is no longer skeptical of their existance, but beleives there must be some explination.

I have no further consequential infortmation to provide, aside that I hope the sightings continue, for I plan to invest in a new camcorder that may be able to capture these objects on film. All prior attempts to record them have been unsuccessful due to out of date camcorders and cameras that cannot pick up the stars, much less these orbs.

I understand this e-mail has become rather lengthy, and apologise. I will let you take from it what you will, and ask that you feel free to contact me at my e-mail address should you wish to ask further questions. I will do my best to reply promptly should you require it.

Summary,

Witnesses - No less then 5 to my knowledge, on different occassions

Time - Multiple sightings taking place from September 07 until the present, the last of which being January the 5th 08 at around 11pm (this is also the time i most frequently see them).

Location - Somewhere west of Winnipeg MB.

The Object - What I assume to be a Generic UFO. It is orb-like in shape, bright like a star with a orange/white glow.

Action - Usually stationary on the horizon, around what would appear to me to be 15-20 KM in the air, though from the distance it must be from where I witness, I cannot gauge it... At times there will be 2 or 3, they have been known to move slowly in different directions before vanishing out of site. Always they dissipate shortly after being spotted.

This is all I can think of to report at this time, but as I said I hope to have video evidence of their presence that may help myself and others better understand the phenomenon. Also, as stated, do not hesitate to contact me through e-mail for further information that I may have overlooked.

BYRON BAY, NSW - THE UFOS OF BYRON BAYPhotographer Mark Abriel has been snapping some strange things in the sky over his home town of Byron Bay, NSW - Unidentified Flying Objects to be exact!

Mark was driving back from surfing and filming at Lennox Head, just south of Byron Bay, last August (2000) when he saw his first strange object in the sky.

However there may be hope, as there was evidently a split within the MJ-12 group, with half wanting the truth to be told, and the other half wanting to keep it secret. I suspect something in the middle was chosen: a very gradual disclosure of extraterrestrial life, something that will not shock the public, probably beginning with microorganisms. Microorganisms are things we can step on, but civilizations more advanced than ours? That makes us look small and insignificant. Hey wait! NOVEMBER 09, 2013 - SKY - Everyday MUFON gets sighting reports and posts them in their data base. This is an overview of some of the reports from November 2nd to 6th.

On November 2nd a witness reported a reddish orange sphere in Discovery Bay, California. The observer saw the object from afar and then again near their home where they were able to take a photo and video of the object. The object moved in a southern direction as the light flickered and dimmed until it was no longer visible. The witness estimated the size to be about 10 to 20 feet in diameter. It was silent with no sounds or noise.

On November 3rd in Sheldon Missouri a witness reports observing 4 different kinds of craft every night in the area for months. The objects land, hover, make formations, and occasionally emit a white light. The witness was able to take photos but the objects appear very blurry.

In Salt Lake City Utah a witness shot a video of objects that have also been observed in the area for months. The observer set up a camera to get a clear view of west Salt Lake Valley. The witness was able to capture multiple objects moving horizontally and vertically, while others hovered. The original video is 25 minutes long and the uploaded version was sped up to make the video about 3 minutes long.

A witness in Miamisburg Ohio noticed an extremely bright white light over Dayton Mall while driving home around 6:30 in the evening. Through binoculars the witness observed an object that seemed to change from a mushroom shape to a circular shape. It was described as a large circle in the middle with smaller circles radiating out like spokes on a wheel. The witness took photos during the second sighting on November 5th with a Nikon Cool pix camera with a 15x optical zoom.

On November 5th in Erie Pennsylvania around 11:20pm a witness photographed a UFO almost directly overhead. It was a cloudy night. The object appeared large, bright and below the clouds. Calls to 911 and the airport were unsuccessful in obtaining any other reports or information.

On November 6th in Willoughby Ohio a witness walking home from school saw red ball in sky flying at a high rate of speed. She was able to take a picture with an iphone. The witness said the object was the size of a penny. Helicopters and police were also observed in the area. - OPEN MINDS.

UFO SIGHTING IN LEAKEY, TEXAS ON OCTOBER 23RD 2013 - I WAS TAKING PICTURES OF THE SUNSET WHEN I NOTICED A STRANGE HOVERING TRANSLUCENT OBJECT. I TOOK PHOTO AND I THEN JUST VANISHED OR DISAPEARED.

I was in Leakey, TX visiting for a couple days and decided to take a picture of the sunset on the evening of October 23, 2013. John Greenewald, a specialist in FOIA requests, has amassed one of the largest collections of declassified government documents on his BlackVault.com website. He says he thinks the hype over the newly released CIA document is a little over blown. He says he actually has in his records two other documents that reference Area 51 (see one below). One of those he obtained with a FOIA request on Area 51 to the Department of Energy....

Interestingly, the CIA document does reference UFOs. It has a section titled "U-2s, UFOs, and Operation Blue Book." This section states that once they began test flights of the U-2 in the mid 1950s there was an increase in UFO reports. It says witnesses began to write letters to the Air Force, and "This, in turn, led to the Air Force's Operation Blue Book."

While it is most certain U-2 flights did lead to an increase in UFO reports, this did not lead to the creation of the Air Force's Project Blue Book....

THREE UFO SIGHTINGS OVER CATANDUANES, PHILIPPINES, OBJECT TRAVELLING AT BLINDING SPEED

"Hi everybody! I'm not quite sure if I have to tell my personal experience in this forum...considering the majority of skeptics on UFOs. But I feel that there is a need to discuss this subject, because knowledge of what really happens in our universe could be essential in determining where we should be heading. First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I am a lawyer in the Philippines. I currently holds a public office as the City Legal Officer of "you can check this out in our website. As such, I know what "facts" means and what "evidence" can play as a way to convince people of the existence of a fact.When I was 16 years old (around March of 1987), about to graduate from high school, i was walking my dog around 8:00 PM. It was a bright night because it was almost full moon, with clear skies with some relatively fast moving cumulo-cirrus clouds (it was a bit windy). Our house was just 15 meters away from the seashore in "I was used to stargazing, so I was looking intently at the stars as i walk my dog. I noticed some movement near the moon, i thought it was the cloud, but when i looked more intently, i noticed that it wasnt the cloud but a "star" moving very slowly. I first thought that it must be a night plane, but then the light wasnt blinking like most planes, so it suddenly occurred to me, "could this be something else"? Immediately upon blurting that out in my mind, the moving light suddenly moved so fast in at least three circular paths, counter-clockwise. Since I studied in a special science and math class since my elementary, I knew what the speed of light is, and i knew that that object was travelling at close to the speed of light (around 186,000 miles per sec). I was shocked, because even at my age then, i knew there's no human aircraft that can travel at close to the speed of light. And after going in circles, it streaked the entire length of the sky in a semi-circle path.Two years after, I was again in the same place (we havent left yet our residence near the seashore). I was simply strolling and letting time pass by. It was past 8:00 PM, again, with the moon (more than half moon). The sky was again clear, with visible stars and clouds. As i continue to watch out for falling stars, as it has been my habit, I saw some movement of one "star" in the location of my first sighting two years before. I got so excited that it suddenly occurred to me this wasnt coincidence. This time, upon my noticing of its movement, the bright object with yellow star-like light moved in circular paths, this time clockwise, with the same speed as before, and crossed the sky with blinding speed.Four years later, i was already in my second year of law school in "I returned home for a semestral vacation. We left already our old house near the sea and transferred to another rented house about a hundred meters away from our first hourse. Around 9 PM, i decided to walk at the boulevard near the shore. I feel some kind of anticipation that my experiences before would be repeated, and i was constantly excited of the thought that, "is it an alien spacecraft"? So every semestral break, I would go to the same spot hoping for another sighting. For a time, I got frustrated. But on that particular sem break of 1993 (around late October), it happened again. I saw that bright object moving, no longer in the same spot but still near, and as in noticed it, it again sped off in circles counterclockwise like the first time, with the same blinding speed. I thought, my God, can it read my mind, because everytime i see it and think if its a UFO, it kind of "reacts" to my thought and moves suddenly as if it was jolted by my thought. I told these experiences to my family, but they just looked at me, perplexed. But since they knew me to be very objective and reasonable since i was a kid, they never actually disbelieved me. The same was true with my my friends. I was a student leader at that time (president of various school organizations and had been the editor-in-chief of our college paper), so they saw no reason for me to tell something untrue. Since then, I would wait on the same spot whenever i had the opportunity, but i was never that lucky again. Until now, whenever i would visit my parents in "I always try if i could still see it. i just keep telling my kid and my wife that someday, people, especially our political leaders, might be reasonable enough to take a serious look at these events as part of the circumstantial evidence of the existence of perhaps another life-form that has a much more advanced civilization. i dont know the answers, but Im testifying based on facts and my perso! nal know ledge of certain events where one can draw up some preliminary assumptions."

Historically the world's space exploration attempts have focused exclusively on terrestrial missions. And until recently, the search for life on other planets was reserved for rovers with wheels. But now, following much speculation that life could exist in harsher climates and subsurface oceans, scientists are looking to send a boat to Titan.

Titan is Saturn's largest moon and is home to dozens of liquid methane lakes. And on September 27th 2012 at the European Planetary Science Congress in Madrid, a group of European scientists proposed sending the Titan Lake In-situ Sampling Propelled Explorer (TALISE) to the largest of these lakes - Ligeia Mare - to study its possible habitability. With temperatures as low as -178C, scientists believe that Titan is simply not suitable for life; yet others argue that the thick Earth-like atmosphere of Titan could provide enough insulation for a giant subsurface ocean.

While the 2005 Huygens probe landed on Titan and provided 90 minutes worth of data, the TALISE space boat is expected to carry out research for 6 months. The boat's propulsion method is still being reviewed with the three main methods seen below, and scientists are also looking at the use of tank wheels, air propellers, liquid propellers and a hovercraft design.

TALISE is currently in its early conceptual stages and its feasibility is not yet known.
