"We looked at bringing in some people to talk about extraterrestrials and UFOs," said museum CEO and executive director Allan Palmer, a highly decorated former Air Force and Navy combat jet fighter.
"We wanted to concentrate on people who had personal stories and exposure to what they thought were real UFOs from the military side, because they might have just a little more credibility than your average Joe," Palmer told The Huffington Post.
Four of the participants had previous American military security clearances:

The fifth guest at the museum's upcoming UFO lecture is former U.K. UFO desk officer NICK POPE.
What's going to be different about this one-time lecture compared to previous gatherings where military personnel have stepped forward to reveal details about personal UFO experiences?
"One of the things that is different is that you have high credibility vetted sources," Alexander told HuffPost. "What you're getting from this panel are people who have worked with the military, all of whom certainly agree that UFOs are real, and I think most of them would say it ought to be researched.
"Here, you're getting a small number [of participants], but high credibility people."
At the Sept. 22 lecture, Pope will speak of the similarities between how the U.K. and U.S. governments had similar UFO study groups and why both countries officially got out of the UFO business.
"In both instances, the bottom line was that we wanted Joe Sixpack off our backs. Strip out all the mistaken sightings of weather balloons and dump all the crazies, and we might just have something worth looking at," Pope told HuffPost in an e-mail.
"But you can't do that in a public UFO project, because it's a kook magnet," he said. "The trick is to highlight all the crazy stuff in the media, so the subject becomes a joke, pull the plug, then run the whole thing covertly. Now I'm not saying this is exactly what happened, but if an Air Force pilot sees something unusual and it's tracked on military radar, does anyone seriously think we wouldn't be interested?"
While none of the participants of the upcoming lecture have offered a preview of any UFO revelation, Pope promises to disclose "some hitherto unrevealed secrets of the British government's UFO project."
This isn't the first time the Las Vegas museum has offered a provocative UFO presentation.
Back in March of this year, the Smithsonian venue opened its doors to an ongoing exhibit called "Area 51: Myth or Reality," providing a comprehensive look at the historic records of the most secret military installation in the country.
Among the many items displayed are materials presented as "Authentic Alien Artifact" -- samples of small objects originating from an alleged UFO crash in Russia.

MARK, 13 FIGHTS OFF ALIEN KIDNAPPERS
A Perth schoolboy claims that ugly alien beings tried to drag him from a tent on the front lawn of his parent's home.
While Mark Davies, 13, of Midland, had his brush with the unknown, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Bell, who live only two streets away, were alarmed by a huge green and white cone, hovering over their garden.
The strange encounters came at the peak of a 12 hour UFO scare in January.
The flying saucer flap involved dozens of Perth famlies whose digital clocks stopped and car engines, refrigerators and ovens failed.
A police van cruising near the scene had a radio blackout. The patrolmen, Constables Tim Moffit and Mark Fleskens, later reported that an eerie white light had appeared inside the van, behind the driver's seat.
For Mark Davies, the ordeal began about an hour after he had bedded down for the night in a makeshift tent on the front lawn of his parent's house.
Mark's still in shock, his mother Eileen told me. "After that first night, when he rushed into the house screaming, he's clammed up completely and refuses to discuss it further.
"It was a hot, sticky night. Mark had asked if he could sleep outside, so we rigged up a rough tent for him with old sheets and steel posts.
"Soon after midnight, he burst into the bedroom, screaming. He told me and my husband Malcolm, that horribly ugly beings with guns, had been trying to tear off his blankets and drag him from bed.
"At that moment we knew nothing of the UFOs appearing right then in the district -- we naturally assumed Mark had been having nightmares. But it was impossible to calm him down.
"First I tried putting him in his own bedroom, but he screamed so much I finally brought him into bed with me.
"I noticed the clock radio had stopped. Next morning I discovered that the fridge had shut off, too.
"At about 1 am Mark seemed to be getting worse. He was shaking so violently and so much saliva was running from his mouth. I finally presumed something on the lawn had bitten him.
"We took Mark to a doctor, who told us it was probably a touch of the sun. But when he examined Mark, he was puzzled by a large red scratch on his stomach.
"When the doctor asked how he'd come by that, Mark replied that it was where the creature had clawed him during their struggle.
"We accepted the doctor's sunstroke theory until the next day, when the radio news was full of reports of strange lights over our suburb.
"We then started questioning Mark more seriously about what had happened -- but he totally refused to communicate.
"He burst into tears, saying the creatures would take his 12 year old brother Kevin if he said any more.
That same night of the alleged kidnap attempt, police were called to the house of artist Sidney Bell, two streets behind the Davie's house.
"I woke to see two forks of light coming out of the sky," he said.
"Then, in the middle, there appeared a huge green, white and blue light about 30 meters high and tapered to a point at the top.
The thing was sitting on the ground, on a base about 6 meters wide. An Alsatian over the road began moaning, as though it had been hit by a car."
Constable Moffit, 23, was assigned to investigate -- and he, too, saw the cone of light traveling north along the Roe Highway, he shouted to his offsider Constable Fleskens, 21, that he had spotted the extraordinary object hovering above Midland.
"A bright flash of white light then appeared inside the van," Constable Fleskens said.
I understand that, after the flash, the police van's radio failed -- severing their contact with the Perth communications center.
Theirs wasn't the only equipment breakdown on Perth's night of the UFOs.
Mark Meelas, director of WA's UFO Investigation Center told me, "Many people in the suburbs say their digital clocks (even those with battery backup) went off during the sighting.
"The remarkable thing was that all the clocks came back on several minutes later, showing the correct time, instead of flashing 12.
One woman told Meelas she religiously unplugs her microwave oven every night in case there's a power surge. During the sightings, the unplugged oven switched itself on. (!)
The UFO seems to have emitted some kind of force," Meelas said. "During the time it was seen, a fence was pushed over and two trees were bent to a 45-degree angle.
Mark Davies is not the first witness to describe an attempted abduction by clawed creatures.

When I was first told of the possibility that ETs may be mutilating humans I recoiled at the idea. I believed fervently that ETs are not Gods, but they certainly are intelligent enough to distinguish between a cognitive species and those that are not. I just didn't believe they would do that. It just seemed to be so blatantly uncaring and just plain stupid. Why in God's name would they allow the bodies to be found? It's one thing when you experiment with cattle but to do it to humans and just let the body lie there...it was against common sense, even if you believed they were demons.
I had gone to the PA MUFON conference at the science center in Blue Hill Pennsylvania. It was a fun time and the there were a great many young people in attendance for the first day. The price was 25 a day, not bad at all.

It was during this conference that a speaker named Butch Witkowski took the stage. The title of the talk was "Abductions". I had thought it was j another MUFON researcher presenting on a group of abductees and their cases...boy was I wrong. A friend of mine last year had asked me to do some reading on "Human Mutilations" he mentioned a case in South America. I had already read about the case and had drawn my own conclusions. I told him I believed it was copy cat murder. Some maniac had read about cattle mutilations and copied it trying to throw the police off.
Then enters Butch Witkoski a homicide detective with 27 years experience. When he spoke on stage that day at PA MUFON about "human mutilations" and how inexplicable the forensics around these case tuned out to be, I listened intently. As much as the topic doesn't make sense it still scared me. What stopped me cold about his presentation was Butch believed, and seemed to find supporting evidence, that at least one of the human victims was alive during the mutilation.
What if there are some bad ETs that break the rules? Maybe what they do is against a cosmic policy. Do they know humans will fluff it off, rather than believe it could be real? It seems that is exactly what was has been done with these cases.
Before I present some clips from Butch's presentation let me underline from him some facts for you. After all is said and done an average of 250, 000 people disappear every year, of that number an average of 30,000 people disappear each year with no explanation. The latter numbers are released only after all avenues of explanation have been examined and thrown out. Explanations like: run a ways, starting a new life, cheating family member or abuse, human abduction, murder and many more. These missing 30,000 people might as well have disappeared off the planet. Some were just doing what they normally do and wham; their gone. "I'm going down to bye some milk"; person disappears and never found again. Most of what happened to these missing persons may never be explained, and in the end probably have mundane explanations. However there is room for speculations in this arena. If ETs are mutilating humans can we attain the evidence to prove it?
Another item I like to bring out is what Ed Grimsley told me. Ed Grimsley is a great champion for UFO research he took a group of us out to view UFOs through Generation 3 night vision goggles; for free I might add.. We had over 24 people broken up in small groups each with their own goggles. When anyone found an object they would flash their laser and we could all follow along. Of course some were mistakes but by the end of the spotting all of us together had six separate sightings one even without the scope. This object could not be explained by any means we could think of. Grimsley recounted to us that he and some of his friends had witnessed UFO object which seem to shoot beams at other UFO objects. The objects hit, usually veers off course and they look like they burn up in the atmosphere. I believe to this day Ed and his friends were not lying. I bring this up here because it is possible that what is being done by some ETs is not accepted by the majority of other ETs and sometimes Ed sees the results.
With this possibility in mind I listened as this man presented the scariest scenario of all...HUMAN MULTILATIONS BY ETs.

Entire Show up of event/sighting: For my part and two friends we biking about 2:30 - 3:00 am unhappy a side route off from everyplace we were camping at the Mindemoya cottages. We came unhappy the route and happened to interval at the side of the route near a control. We were looking up at the stars for about five or so minutes. We were all looking at the self-same constellation, we tapering out what was two witty pale lights, meager amount neighboring anything else in the sky that travelled apart from each person other at a speed neighboring no plane. They along with out of action and came account just before each person other at the self-same speed and out of action at a time available from one just starting out and appeared to do several what of a formation neighboring "dancing" motions.
They along with travelled available from each person other later than another time at a blinding speed and the one that was on the vanished of everyplace we were looking spent dressed in the sky upwards and the one on the precisely started to move gruffly up and down side to side for about 1 min or so along with various ensign along with shot account dressed in the night sky. It was the most craziest thing I've ever saw. I however cannot be aware of it fixed even if what me and my brother and accomplice explained to several association they did not be aware of it but we all join what we saw and for 3 evident association to all render the self-same story is no lie. That's all I contain to say about this incident, can't say other over that that. Refinement.

Retired for some years, Gabe was a much-respected and honoured New Mexico State Police Officer and Gaming Control Board Investigator, based for many years around Dulce, New Mexico. It was here, during the mid-1970s, that Gabe took a lead in investigating a rash of bizarre cattle 'mutilations', conducted by persons unknown, and a wave of seemingly-connected UFO sightings. As a result, he was drawn into the sad and strange story of physicist and UFO enthusiast Paul Bennewitz, as told at length in "Mirage Men".
John Lundberg and I met and interviewed Gabe twice at his home, where he was unfailingly friendly and generous with his time. Gabe had clearly been a fearless lawman, but he was still uncomfortable talking about the complex story that he'd uncovered around Dulce and the looming Archuleta Mesa, making at times for an awkward interview. Gabe believed that he had discovered a clandestine military operation and felt sure that his research back in the 1970s and '80s had drawn the attention of some unpleasant characters, leading to his phone being tapped, amongst other things.
While no doubt some natural animal deaths were mistakenly attributed to the unseen mutilators, there's a great deal of evidence, much of it pieced together by Gabe and his fellow investigators, pointing towards an organised programme of some kind. Although its true purpose remains unclear, over the years writers and researchers have connected the cattle deaths to the monitoring of radiation leaks or viral contagion and secret biological weapon tests, as well as to the inevitable extraterrestrials, Satanic / Masonic / Illuminati / NWO activity and, more mundanely, human poachers.
I'd like to think that one day we'll learn what was really going on around Dulce, New Mexico, no matter how sinister, or prosaic, it really was. In the mean time, hats off to Gabe Valdez, a man who put himself on the line and made the concerns of his community his own.

'Back in the 1970s, Valdez's investigation had focused on the ranch of Manuel Gomez, whose cattle had suffered particularly badly; alongside dead and mutilated animals he'd found caterpillar tracks, bits of paper, measuring tools, syringes, needles and a gas mask. One site was covered with radar-reflecting chaff, some of it stuffed into the dead cow's mouth. Some of the animals had broken bones and what appeared to be rope marks on their limbs, suggesting that they had been hoisted up then dropped back on to the ground. Whoever was doing this to the cattle, they were organized, and human.
As in Montana, the mutilations coincided with a rash of UFO sightings, and Valdez and his fellow officers had several close shaves with strange flying machines. On one occasion Valdez's team cornered an orange light in a field; as they approached, the light went out. Then, although they could see nothing, they heard a muffled sound like a lawnmower engine pass over their heads. Another time Valdez and two colleagues ducked beneath an object that he described as disc-shaped, rotor-less, and dazzlingly bright. Valdez described the noise it made as it flew over them as 'put-put- putting' or 'ticking' - hardly the sound of advanced alien technology.
The intensity of the mutilations around Dulce had also drawn the interest of Howard Burgess, a retired Sandia Labs scientist, and one night in July 1975 he, Valdez and Gomez, the ranch-owner, followed a hunch to see whether or not humans really were behind the attacks. By shining an ultraviolet lamp on to the backs of a sample of a hundred cattle, the trio found that some of them had been marked with a substance that showed up only under ultraviolet light. The marked cattle were all between one and three years old and came from a particular breed: the same one as the dead animals found on Gomez's land. Gomez quickly sold off all the animals that fitted the mutilation profile.
Based on their discovery, the three men pieced together a modus operandi. The selected cattle were being marked with water-soluble UV paint containing potassium and magnesium; this suggested that the marking was done quite soon before the operation was to take place. Under cover of darkness, whatever aircraft that the team employed would fly over the region and identify the marked animals using a blacklight beam that was invisible to any observers. The selected animal was tranquillized, probably from the air with a rifle, and then the mutilation operation was performed, either on the ground or, as Valdez believed, after the victim had been hauled to another location - hence the rope marks on some of them. Valdez told us that the mutilators had their surgery-cum-laboratory in one of many disused mine shafts on top of the Archuleta Mesa. Their grisly work over, they then returned the animal to the pastures, mutilated and drained of blood, to be found by an unlucky rancher.
Although Valdez's enthusiasm for the subject was clear, so was his anxiety; at one point he hinted to us that he had found the entrance to a military facility on top of the Mesa, but he quickly backed away from the subject when asked for more information. Valdez clammed up like this a few times, as if he felt he'd said something he shouldn't. We later learned that there was good reason for his hesitance: while conducting his investigations back in the 1970s he'd become convinced that he was under surveillance, a suspicion borne out by the discovery of a microphone 'bug' in his telephone handset.
What Valdez did tell us was startling enough: he thought that the military had been flying helicopters into the Dulce area from Fort Carson, an army installation about 300 miles to the north, near Colorado Springs, and using the Archuleta Mesa as a staging post for their mutilation missions. He also suggested that 'real' UFOs - flying saucers - were being flown alongside the mutilators' own aircraft, perhaps by another government agency, in order to obfuscate matters further, or at least to confuse the locals. That one confused us, too.'
