Where Do Crop Circles Come From
Strange phenomenon such as CROP CIRCLES has been prevalent in the southern English countryside for more than three decades now. Observers were baffled to see mysterious flattened circular depressions found in cereal crops, which range from ten feet to several hundred feet wide in diameter and vary from simple circles to complex spirals.Several theories have arisen regarding the mysterious appearance of crop circles. Cereologists think that crop circles are the result of some unknown physical phenomena. Some hinted that the depressions are the result f an unusual weather effect. Others suggested that the circles are the result of some top-secret military experiments using a beam of high intensity microwaves from a distance which vaporize the water in a plant and causing it to collapse.Proponents of the theory that crop circles are created by UFOs note that depressions usually appear in conjunction with a UFO sighting. Some argue that the complex shapes of the circles are messages purposefully left by the crew of the alien spacecraft. The earliest evidence of a crop circle is a pamphlet with the title `The Mowing-Devil' in 1678. It tells a story of a farmer who made a deal with the devil to mow his field. The woodcut depicts a demonic creature cutting the field in a circular pattern, similar to modern crop circles depiction. The most common acceptable explanation of crop circles is that they are manmade, despite the intense interest show among paranormal enthusiasts for supernatural explanations that based on alternate science such as UFOs. The first hoaxers who admitted to make crop circles, have been two local gentlemen named Doug Bower and Dave Chorley in England in 1978 using simple hand tools. In 1981 they created a circle which was visible to passersby which made crop circles big news. The two men continued to make crop circles and demonstrated on television their techniques in 1991. Proponents of the weather or UFO explanations argue that a close examination of a circle will reveal differences of a hoaxed circle from a genuine circle, however, there is no clear criteria about the authenticity of a circle. A theory from most believers in supernatural explanations states that many of the crop circles are extremely complicated patterns that would be impossible to create by humans. This theory was challenged when a group of crop circle makers was able to produce a complex formation without mistakes in a single night. Though the phenomenon has started in England, crop circles have been seen around the world and become part of popular culture. Yet, the mystery seems to point on what caused them to create strange circles at night in a farm field. www.eCropCircles.com (c) 2011
